Terms and Conditions for Course Participants

Welcome to the new official courses to train analysts and those looking to enter the counter-disinformation field using the DISARM Framework, operated by Alliance4Europe, approved by the DISARM Foundation.

By enrolling in our course(s), you (“Participant”, “you”) agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”), which govern your access to and use of our training, educational content, and certification.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using our services, you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not enrol in or use our courses.

2. Course Enrollment

Eligibility: You must be at least 18 years old to enrol in our courses. By agreeing to these Terms, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.

Enrolling in courses from Alliance4Europe requires participants to share certain personal details. This information is kept following Alliance4Europe’s Privacy Policy (available here: https://alliance4europe.eu/privacy-policy). By enrolling in a course, participants agree for the data provided to be handled by, and to be contacted by, Alliance4Europe, and accept the aforementioned privacy policy.

3. Course Content and Intellectual Property

Ownership: All course materials, including lectures, videos, documents, and other content provided by Alliance4Europe, are the intellectual property of Alliance4Europe or its licensors. These materials are provided to you for your personal, non-commercial use only.Restrictions: You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works of, publicly display, publicly perform, republish, or transmit any of our course materials, except as explicitly permitted in these Terms.

4. User Conduct

You agree to use our courses and services only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not infringe the rights of, restrict, or inhibit anyone else’s use and enjoyment of Alliance4Europe’s training courses. Prohibited behaviour includes harassing or causing distress or inconvenience to any other participant, transmitting obscene or offensive content, or disrupting the normal flow of dialogue within our courses.

Alliance4Europe reserves the right to refuse the provision of courses to anyone who is engaged in hostile or harmful behaviour in the information space (namely, pro-disinformation actors).

5. Payment and Refunds

Fees: Details of the fees for our courses and any other charges are displayed on our website. Fees are subject to change at Alliance4Europe’s discretion.

Refunds: Alliance4Europe cannot offer refunds once a participant has registered for a course. In the event a participant can no longer attend on a certain set of dates, the participant may change the selected date of their course to other dates offered by Alliance4Europe. Courses may be transferred to another individual subject.

6. Transfer of participation

Course admission may be transferred to another individual until the time that preliminary course materials have been received by those enrolled in the course at the time. This occurs approximately 2 weeks before the first date of the course.

7. Certification

Upon full completion of a DISARM Course (including payment, full attendance, homework, passed test, and feedback), participants are awarded a certificate of completion in recognition of their efforts.

Certificates are not valid indefinitely due to the fast-moving nature of the counter-disinformation field and of the DISARM Framework. The length of validity of the certificate is indicated in the respective course details.

Certificates can be revoked in the instance a participant acts against the terms set herein, in particular with respect to point 4. on User Conduct. This is managed at the discretion of Alliance4Europe.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

Our courses and services are provided “as is” and “as available” without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied. Alliance4Europe does not guarantee that the course content will be free from errors or that access to the courses will be uninterrupted.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Alliance4Europe shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your access to or use of, or inability to access or use, our courses and services.

10. Changes to Terms

Alliance4Europe reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. By continuing to access or use our services after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Belgium, without giving effect to any principles of conflicts of law.
